Q. My gf has had a constant period for over a month now and so her GP is putting her on the pill to try to regulate her periods. A. No it's okay if you miss a placebo pill as long as you took the 3 weeks of active pills correctly. The placebos pills don't have any active medication in them. Some contain iron to help with blood loss during your menstrual cycle though. But most, don't contain anything. They are simply there just to keep a woman in the habit of remembering to take her pill every day. I have been on the pill for 10+ years and I NEVER take my placebo pills. I'm also immediately starting the next contraceptive pill packet so that I'll miss this month's bleed to make my upcoming holiday less inconvenient. I'm aware that antibiotics can reduce or negate the effects of the Pill and was just wondering how long this lasts so that I can plan ahead. I've read the leaflets from both the antibiotic packets and my pill packet but neither offer any advice regarding this matter.

Q. I'm looking to lose a bit of weight and I am going to start exercising daily. I need a diet pill that will help me lose weight quickly but I'm not a big fan of pills that work as laxatives but any personal experiences would greatly help aswell.

How long does it take for the effects of a birth control pill to leave your system?
Q. My husband and I want to start a family sometime in the next year or two. I have been on the pill for 10 years. I have been told by a few people that the effects of the pill takes a long time to leave a woman's system before she can conceive. My brother said a friend of his took 4 years to be able to have kids, and she was on the pill for several years. I have thought of taking a non chemical means of birth control, such as contraceptive ring until we are ready. But when I confront my doctor, he says I have nothing to worry about, that the pill is fine. A big part of me is screaming at me to get off the pill. Any thoughts?

A. My doctor told me that you want to wait 3 months after you stopped taking the pill before you start to try. I never heard of someone having to wait four years, maybe that person just wasn't ovulating correctly
